5 HOME BUYING TIPS

  1. Get Pre-Approved  - the first step towards buying a home is to determine how much you can afford. As soon as you begin actively searching, you should talk with a qualified mortgage consultant to do so. I can connect you with a professional consultant who will help give you a solid understanding of your price range.

  2. Make a "Dream House" List Then Prioritize - make a list of all of the features you may want in your new home, for example, a home on a side-street, one that has 4 bedrooms, a fireplace, walking distance to town, etc. Then prioritize, and choose the top 2 or 3 items on the list that are the most important to you. 

  3. Keep Your Money Where It Is! - If you are applying for a mortgage, a bank or loan officer will evaluate how much of a loan you can afford, and that amount can change up until the day the mortgage note is signed. So, although it's tempting to buy new furniture for your home, wait until after the closing. In fact, don't make any large purchases before closing. Some other "don'ts" to follow when awaiting a loan: Don't open or close credit cards, don't make any large credit purchases, don't switch jobs, don't pay any bills late, and don't move any large amounts of money around.

  4. Get Familiar with the Timeline for Buying Your Home - From the initial offer, to the home inspection, to the purchase and sale, to the closing, I will help explain the home-buying process and timeline to you step by step!

  5. Understand Costs of Deposits/Home Inspection Fees/Attorney Fees - From the good faith money deposit, to the purchase and sale deposit, to the down payment, to home inspection fees, I will explain to you the various costs that are associated with purchasing a home.
